“Let the past flow away with water.” This carries the idea that ‘forgiveness’ is key to finding harmony. However, while letting go of resentments will help, the pure water suggests clarity is found by reflecting and learning from the past.

“Endure the seemingly unbearable with perseverance and dignity.” Refining fires melt metals to remove impurities to achieve something of greater valuable. May our adversities help strengthened our character, empathy and compassion.

“For this time only.” The beauty of the blossom flower in Japanese culture, embraces the idea of ‘mono no aware’, which roughly translates ‘the pathos of things’. This recognises both the beauty and mortality within life itself.

A bowl once broken and mistreated,
Now restored – a golden journey completed.
